Brian, the retired gent from England has been here since November and is staying another month or so. He has a daily routine that rarely changes, but for the location he chooses each day.
The Canadian couple were a delight, but only here for just over a week.
Peter, British by birth, born and grew up in Somaliland until the British left in 1960, lives in Cairo and visits here often. His father was with the U.N. He was here on both of my last visits. He has just purchased a lovely villa here on the West Bank and will take possession on Monday. He went back to Cairo last night to tie up loose ends and get the shipper to pack and send his belongings here. He has invited me to his new home for dinner. Peter will be back at the hotel for a few nights next week while he gets his new place sorted.
A Belgian couple who sold their home here and are staying in the hotel for four or five months.
A very well known Australian writer and author is here with his family. They will return from their Nile cruise on Friday and spend a few more days here. Hopefully, the hotel will feature in a future publication.
We now also have a small group of artists who are here for two weeks. They are doing some sort of workshops. They just arrived yesterday, so I have not found out what, where, when...lol. Mohamed said he would take me there.
Just prior to my arrival there were two groups (one week each) from France. They were here studying. Mohamed has two two classrooms on the grounds, behind the pool area, and each morning after breakfast their teachers and a local Egyptologist would give a lecture and then they would go off to experience the site.
Of course there guests from various countries who stay from one night to one week. There are no big tour groups. They are independent travellers and make people watching and meeting new guests extremely interesting.
The orange tree at my terrace is blooming. The hoopoe birds are singing.
